How is a circuit breaker reset?

Resetting a circuit breaker is accomplished by turning it off and then back on again. When a breaker trips, it interrupts the flow of electricity to protect the circuit from overload or short circuit conditions. To restore power, you simply need to locate the breaker in the panel, switch it to the "off" position and then back to "on." This action re-establishes the circuit's connection and allows electricity to flow again, as long as the underlying cause of the trip has been resolved.

Replacing the breaker with a new one is unnecessary unless the breaker is faulty. Turning off the main power could cut power to the entire panel, which is not a practical solution for just resetting a single breaker. Using a special key is not standard practice for most residential or commercial circuit breakers, as most breakers are designed to be reset manually without needing additional tools.
